Moving Part 3- Moving IN!

Okay so it rains a lot in Washington. And hails. And Dad calls twice a day with a weather update that goes like so: "Hey it's 80 degrees here and I'm sipping my latte out by the pool! What's it doing there?"
I bet it's just 'cause he misses me. :)
It was really fun to actually move my stuff into the apartment and get the kitchen put together a bit! The apartment started out looking like this: And ended up like this! Dennis, Nancy and Ty came over for pizza to celebrate! Kyle and I discovered why the fish keep dying. It was my last time staying with Kyle's parents... The next time I go up it'll be for good! There's a little restaurant close to where Kyle's parents live called Krain Corner. Ty read in the paper that they are going under so Ty, Kyle and I ate there my last night in town. We gave our support by ordering extremely tasty bacon cheeseburgers. Back in Vegas... 8 days until I don't have to leave Kyle ever again and 10 days until the wedding!!!

Moving Part 2- UT, ID and OR

From Zion we continued on our way towards Salt Lake City and then on to Boise, ID. I love the desert. Southern Utah is particularly beautiful. We stopped for a Starbucks in Payson, UT. We'd traveled 428 miles. Let me tell you there are not a lot of Starbucks in Utah... I was desparately needing one by the time we finally found one in this little town! We didn't get pictures of Boise because it was dark by the time we got there. We stayed the night with Kirsten and headed out early, going Portland way because Snoqualmie Pass was closed.
This is Baker City, OR. Distance traveled: 943 miles. There isn't a whole lot to Baker City but they had a McDonalds and some interesting old buildings! These are condos now but a sign on the building says St. Elizabeth Hospital established 1897. After we went over the cross we hit major crosswinds. I drove through the wind keeping my steering wheel pointed towards the left the whole time just to keep the car straight. I still managed to stay happy, though... We especially had a good laugh when a huge tumbleweed got stuck to my grill and he had to pull over get it off. more tumbleweed: dust storm kicked up by the wind: Finally we reached the Columbia River, the wind calmed down a bit but my windshield wipers got more use than they probably have in their whole history of being on my car (...which is about 6 months as they warp every Summer in Vegas). But of course the harder it rains, the more beautiful the rainbow seems to be! We stopped in Hood River to see where Kyle's Grandpa used to live and visit his old neighbors. We stopped at Multnoma Falls, too! Kyle ran up to the bridge to wave while I stayed a safe distance away from the freezing cold water spray!

Moving Part 1- NV and Zion

Kyle flew down to help me drive my car up to WA.
This is what the living room looked before packing up: This is what the car looked like after packing up: First stop: McDonalds for breakfast and a bathroom break. Distance from home: 0.2 miles (are we crazy travelers or what?)
Leaving Las Vegas. Our next stop was.... Zion National Park!! A 3 hour detour but well worthwhile! I got to show Kyle the same trails I hiked with my family in February. A very curious (or very thirsty) chipmunk investigated our water bottle.
